In an effort to minimize the spread of the Covid-19 virus that is increasingly hitting Indonesia. The government issued a policy requiring all school activities to be temporarily suspended, starting from March of 2020.
The decision was initially only valid for two weeks after the policy was promulgated. Monitoring the development of the spread of the corona virus which turns out to be increasing continuously. So that face-to-face meetings are replaced with the Learning from Home system.
Why Need to Study from Home?
The implementation of learning from home activities is implemented with the aim of minimizing the spread of COVID-19. Because if you continue to do face-to-face learning at school, of course this can cause the spread of the corona virus to increase. Because the school is a place where many people gather and the interaction is done directly. The implementation of Learning from Home activities certainly requires support in the form of adequate resources with the aim that the implementation of this activity can run smoothly.
One of the elements that is a core part of implementing learning from home is a connection to the internet network. Internet network connection in Indonesia which is still not evenly distributed is an obstacle that becomes difficulties and challenges in implementing school from home.
This can be used as an evaluation material for the government to continue to strive to be able to provide internet facilities to areas that need it.
In addition, another element that plays a very large role is the teaching staff. In practice, learning in the network or commonly referred to as (online) feels more difficult because this activity is still not used to being carried out.
The teachers initially thought that the implementation of learning from home would be carried out only for the short term. It turns out that the situation says otherwise, where the spread of COVID-19 is still increasing and online learning continues to be extended.
This caused some parties to find it difficult because there was not enough preparation to hold such an activity. Teachers who in fact are already old feel challenged to learn new things, namely operating sophisticated devices today.
Not infrequently they ask their children for help to arrange the devices they use for teaching. Meanwhile, to overcome this, the Ministry of Education and Culture has provided recommendations for educational websites that can be accessed by students as learning resources that can help them understand the material presented by teachers in online classes.
The method of implementing learning from home is carried out by distance learning which is divided into two forms, namely distance learning in the network (online), and outside the network or commonly referred to as (offline).
In the implementation of distance learning which is carried out online, the Ministry of Education and Culture has designed a learning system that does not focus on scores or scores quantitatively. However, it prioritizes the values of communication between students, teachers, and parents.
Meanwhile, for learning media that is carried out outside the network or offline, all educational units, especially students, are recommended to be able to take advantage of a number of educational services that have been provided by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Educational facilities such as the home study service program broadcast by TVRI was designed by the Ministry of Education and Culture to meet the learning needs of students. In addition, there are also radios, self-study modules, and worksheets that are used to see how far students are in following the material that has been delivered.
